Grading Scale:
Late Assignment Policy Each day late - 10% down to 50% max Communications Policy · I prefer email communications · 90% of the time respond within an hour or two. · To have your email responded to quickly please follow these rules: o Ensure your question cannot be answered in the syllabus, by a classmate, the message board, or the GA. o If you’re having a technical problem, please provide screen captures and a little detail – but not every mouse click you made for the last 7 hours. · I prefer remote assistance versus in-person, since I work off campus. When your question cannot be answered by an email I will likely setup a Skype for Business meeting to see your problem. Please have the Office 2016 suite installed which includes Skype for Business. You can find that here http://doit.niu.edu/doit/services/collaboration/O365/index.shtml · Please do not IM me, or put something on my calendar, unless we have an existing line of communication going and I suggest the idea. · If you’re letting me know you’re not going to be in class, that’s ok – but I might not respond to those emails. Help Policy · Please know that you will have problems. · If yours is a technical problem, like an error, please ask a classmate before you asking the instructor or GA. You may also post to the discussion board. This means that you should also help other people. Any job in MIS will require helping others, so this is good practice. · After you’ve asked at least one person, come see me at my desk with your question · If there is one person at my desk, write your name on the board and continue to work on your problem from your seat until that person leaves. · Use my office hours, and I do help remotely so please email me or post to the discussion board. Detailed Course Schedule (Assignments & Due dates subject to change) SEE BLACKBOARD FOR DETAILED SCHEDULE Discussion Board Topics This is new for me, so hang with me here, but I’m going to post 10 discussion board topics this semester (each worth .5 points). They will consist of an online article to read, and some questions. Please leave your response in the form of a 2 or 3 sentence response. You will have one week to respond.
MidtermThe Midterm will be a combination of questions from the 4 prior quizzes, and a short development assignment.
In lieu of a final exam, each team (1-3 members) must complete a final project and deliver a 5-minute presentation on their project. The final project must encompass the body of knowledge you have obtained over the course. Projects are expected to be database driven, business oriented, web-based applications.
